May 4, 2021 Day 17: Moab, Utah 越野车
Today, we went on a tour into Arches on a Toyota Land Cruiser. That’s one of those vehicles that can drive into the jungle and across mountains made of rocks, which was basically what we did. It’s a jeep with a boxy frame and large windows, and really large tires. We rode with two white men wearing sunglasses and sandals. The older one was Josh, our tour guide, and the younger one was a trainee named Aiden along for the ride.
Josh had worked for the company, NAVTEC, for three years, and it shows. He had nearly an encyclopedic knowledge of every question we could think of, from the specific altitude of the mountains to the development of the particular type of soil. Every mile or so, he would crack a Dad joke that he’d probably used hundreds of times. When we got to the hike, we all peed in the rock bushes. We visited the Tower Arch, and saw some dinosaur tracks which were divots in the ground.
Loads of fun!!!! btw - If you have Monument Valley on your itinerary, you can re nt a jeep or something else 4WD with clearance and drive through the park yourself. That's fun, too!
